Ian was called to the Bar in 2018. Prior to his admission, Ian undertook his pupillage in the firm and was subsequently retained as an associate at the firm. He represents various clients in litigation matters. and drafts court documents, commercial and conveyancing documents, attends to arbitration and mediation briefs.
Ian is a diligent advocate, ardent researcher and legal drafter. He has been actively involved in legislative drafting and presentation of memoranda to parliament including but not limited to the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2018 presented to the parliamentary committee on planning on 26th May, 2018 at Boma Inn Hotel Nairobi, Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2018 and the Capital Markets (Amendment) Bill, 2018 presented to the Parliamentary committee on Finance and Planning at Parliament Buildings, on 9th August, 2018.
Tum is also a published researcher with interests in Aviation, Environmental Law, Science and Technology, Intellectual Property, Information Technology Law, Constitutional Law, Aboriginal and indigenous rights among others.
