Dorothy is the Managing Partner in the firm. Her association with the firm began in the year 1999 as a legal intern. She thereafter left the firm and joined National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation (NWCPC) as a Senior Legal Assistant before re-joining the firm as an Associate in the Litigation Department.
As a Legal Assistant at NWCPC, Dorothy was in charge of contracts, insurance and compliance of statutory requirements. The contracts were mainly for dam construction and water supply systems funded by World Bank amongst other donors as well as day to day operational contracts within the organisation. She also handled all insurance matters and was charged with ensuring that the organisation complied with all statutory requirements.
As an Associate in the Litigation Department of the Firm, Dorothy’s arears of practice covered Commercial Litigation, Insurance Litigation, Employment Law, Family Law and Judicial Review matters. She traversed the Country prosecuting and defending various matters. She later moved to the Commercial and Conveyancing Department where her work emphasis was on Banking, Finance, Property Law and Conveyancing.
In recent years, Dorothy has taken to specialising on Corporate Law and Governance and Commercial Law. She has been on the forefront in driving the firm’s practice and has led several consultancy assignments ranging from Legal and Governance Audits, Legal Due diligence assignments. She is an ardent champion of good corporate governance and has been actively involved in advising both public and private institutional clients on the principles of good governance and assisting clients in the implementation of the same.
Dorothy has previously served as a board member of Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation, a government Corporation providing deposit insurance to depositors in Kenyan banks and deposit taking microfinance institutions. During her term she served as the Chairperson of the Human Resource and General Purpose Committee. She has also served as a member of the Conveyancing Committee of the Law Society of Kenya in the period 2011 to 2012. She currently serves as a member of the Children’s Court Bar Bench Committee of the Law Society of Kenya – Nairobi Branch.
